The Klutz Book of Paper Airplanes

This book is a favorite among paper airplane beginners. Not only does it provide clear, easy to follow intructions on how to fold 10 different paper airplanes, it also comes with 40 sheets of custom printed paper with cool patterns. (Refills can be purchased.)

The colorful paper patterns encourage even the little ones to go ahead and try to fold their own paper planes. The best part is that the instructions are easy enough even for a four-year old to follow.

The Klutz Book of Paper Airplanes was edited by Doug Stillinger. Find out more here.

The World Record Paper Airplane Book

There are 100 paper airplanes in this book by Ken Blackburn and Jeff Lammers. The designs are simple and the instructions are easy to follow. The tear-out pages are colorful. And there's a wealth of information about aviation, flying and even how to stage a paper airplane contest.

It also touches on the story of the world record paper airplane. Note that Ken Blackburn is an Aerospace Engineer while Jeff Lammers is a Mechanical Engineer. Their technical backgrounds are used beautifully in this book.

The Great International Paper Airplane Book

The grand daddy of all paper airplane books, The Greatest International Paper Airplane book was first published in 1967 and is still in print. It contains 20 of the best paper airplane designs out of more 11,000 entries in the 1st International Paper Airplane Contest sponsored by Scientific American.

Since the paper airplanes are based on the competition, the designs are very varied. It can easily spark inspiration when designing your own paper airplanes.

Kid's Paper Airplane

Here's another excellent paper airplane book from Ken Blackburn and Jeff Lammers, this time with Walter Chrynwski. There are two tear-out pages for each design. Not as long as The World Record Paper Airplane book but just as fun.

It's the perfect gift for the young ones. It can help encourage them to read. And they'll have a lot of fun folding and flying the paper airplanes. Be sure to provide them with a lot of sheets!
